As unfortunate as it is, it's unfortunately necessary. Their native Jungle homes in Borneo are being torn down to build up their economy. They want to be rich like the West of us. Conservation parks are their only future, and these will only happen if people care enough to support them. Zoo help people to develop that interest from an early age, as captured perfectly in this wonderful image. Regards, -Najinsky.

Thanks all. It actually isn't as sad as it looks. The Orangs at Melbourne Zoo have a big enclosure with lots of climbing poles etc and they don't have to be right in front of the viewing glass like this. It was the coldest day in Melbourne this year and the keepers had provided a big pile of blankets. This Orang was obviously very practised at making a comfortable bed. You do have to wonder if it's a good thing to be doing with such intelligent animals though.

My first reaction - the poor creature looks like a homeless person sleeping on the streets.
This is a fine capture. I'd also like to see a version with the humans cropped out, focusing on the animal's face.

Fantastic Michael, you don't need more than one shot to make this story known. Paul
