My interest in photography goes back to the early 70's with a Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta roll film camera, graduating to a Minolta SRT 101,Nikkormant Ftn and finally to a Nikon FM with 28mm/75-150 mm zoom and a 50mm f1.4 lens. I prefer 35 mm for the ease and flexibility it offers.
In early 2002 I explored digital with a Olympus D460 digital with 1.3 MP. .My experiences encouraged me to upgrade a year later to a Nikon D100 DSLR (6.1MP) fitted with a 24~85 f2.8 Nikon AF macro zoom. Dec 2006 saw the purchase of a 14mm f2.8 Nikon AFD lens.. followed by the long awaited 80-200 f2.8 AF-ED nikon zoom in march 2010.My next lens will probably be the nikon 100mm Macro AF. My monitor is profiled and the usual colour space is Adobe RGB. In 2013: fuji x pro 1 with a 18-55 f 2.8 lens....conversions are with RRP which is powerfull and easier to use than Silky Pix.
My primary interest is black & white but the richness and flexability of digital colour facinates me. Photoshop & digital imaging has evolved in the last 10 years and changed the way we handle images. Almost everything we can do in a wet darkroom can now be done on a laptop. I enjoy producing watercolours, line drawings, solarisations, posterisations in digital.More recent explorations are in the field of HDR, blending modes and newer creative sofware such as Postworkshop & CZM.Am now exploring alternative software to PS ie Pixbuilder which offers similar functions to Ps and available for free.
Over the years exhibited in several national and international exhibitions and have enjoyed seeing the immense photography talent around the world. One of my early b&w prints from the 1990's is in the permanent collection of HPF in Ooty.Awards include a gold medal at the Singapore Intl, the U.N. International Year of the Family 2004 award followed by the Agfanet award in the category "water"...Enjoy shooting portraits, seascapes, landscapes, pictorial, & fine art.. By profession a senior company executive in thel shipping industry, based in Mumbai - India.
I admire the work of the late Ansel Adams,E.Haas,Eric Meola, Cartier Bresson, Galen Rowell,Yousouf Karsh, Jay Maisel,Norman Koren,Art wolfe,Steve McCurry, Reza Deghati and the list goes on...
