About me:

Initially a photographer and latterly a writer, I currently work for The Railway Magazine, the UK's best-selling railway monthly.

I have a passion for railways and travel, often combining the two, and my role allows travel in the UK, Europe and sometimes further afield.

I have taken around 30,000 slides and in the summer of 2002, I began the transition to digital as it suited me personally, and the production of the magazine. It has also helped resolve a number of storage issues, and by the start of 2008, I had amassed around 55,000 digital images.

On the camera front, in 1979 I switched from Prakitca to Canon and since then have owned a succession of models – Ftb, AE1, AT1, A1 – before switching to their EOS range and owning at one time or another EOS 600, 1N, 3 and a 5. The EOS trend has continued through to digital with ownership of a EOS D60, and I currently use a Canon EOS5D Mk2 and a 7D, with a range of Canon lenses covering from 15 to 300mm. I
