A Tall Ship is one of the most graceful and awesome sights on the sea. Sailing one is an unrivalled experience, so they say, especially onboard the ships "Stavros S Niarchos" and the "Prince William". The Tall Ships Youth Trust is a registered charity dedicated to the personal development of young people through the crewing of Tall Ships.
The Sail Training Association’s square rigged sailing ship Stavros S Niarchos was launched in 2000 to provide sail training for young people. Less well known are the adult voyages she now offers each winter in the Caribbean. If you have always yearned to sail blue oceans on a tall ship, this is your chance. This is not a cruise—it is a hands-on a sailing adventure of a lifetime. The Stavros is nearly 500 tons of steel, traditional rigging and powerful sails. Use the stars to guide you by night and the sun to delight you by day. In recent years one of these beautiful looking ships, enters the Docks in Barry, and plays a centre point of attraction for the Waterfront festivities that we have once a year in September. Here are a few pictures that I have taken in the last few years, the most recent pictures being closer to the top
