Southerndown, just along the coast from Ogmore, is one of my favourite beaches although it can get quite busy during the summer weekends. For those wishing to visit, there is limited parking on the seafront, but if it becomes busy, there is an overflow car park. There are nice rock pools for the children, better than those of Ogmore, so don't forget to take their fishing nets! There is a small shop and toilets, and a visitor centre which tells a little of the history of the area and Dunraven castle. Also look out for the old thatched cottage opposite the visitor centre.
