I took a few of the pictures in this gallery in the summer when I went down to Rest Bay with a colleague and good friend, Ross. I wasnt totally impressed with the zoom capability of my little Nikon 5200, and I guess it was the main reason I replaced it with my new Sony Cybershot H5, in fact the top 2 rows were taken with it, and I was very pleased with the results!
As to the locality of Rest Bay, its not exactly where I live, but a beach not that far away in the car to get to, and I thought it was worthy of adding into this particular gallery. Rest Bay is a firm, golden, sandy beach backed by low cliffs and The Royal Porthcawl Golf Course. It faces south west and receives the full force of the Atlantic swells, which produces excellent surf. Rest Bay and its neighbours are situated adjacent to the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. There is a cycle route from Porthcawl and common land next to the beach for walks. There are rock pools adjacent to the beach and Kenfig National Nature Reserve is 3 miles away. These pictures were taken in July 2007, November 2006 and June 2004.
