Starting off at Morrison's for a good breakfast we headed out to Hensol. The original plan was to go walking for the day at Hensol with Rachel and Huw, but as we got closer the weather turned bad and put an end to our days walking. After a group discussion and deciding what else we could do, we decided to head towards Newport on the motorway and go up to Cwmcarne. Just quarter of an hour's motorway drive from England and half an hour from the Black Mountains it's perfect for riders who want to hit superb singletrack as soon as possible. Huw's son Nathan was biking there so we found ourselves a place to sit, and take some photos. Apparently anyone could have a go, and there were even bikes available for anyone to hire and have a go themselves. Alas, despite the fact that it didnt cost anything to hire a bike, none of us decided to try a bike down the hillside....we had a nice trip back home through the Cwmcarn Forest Drive which is a 7-mile scenic route through the rolling hills and green mountains which apparently is of one the country's largest urban forests. The weather was not that good to really take good scenic pictures, so we will revisit the area again in the summer and I'll upload some more pictures.
