Photography has always been an interest of mine since I was very young. My grandfather was into photography in a big way, to the extent that he had his own darkroom, and had built his own enlarger. I used to love helping him develop black and white photographs, and the amount of photographs we have in albums in our house is a tribute to his interest and enthusiasm of photography. My grandfather has passed away now, but I am absolutely sure that he would have been fascinated with digital photography, and what can be done these days. Who knows, maybe he would have come along to class, and joined in!
My own interest in photography got stronger when I studied Photography in High School, where I followed lessons in it for 4 years, and here I am now, teaching it in night class at the very same school where I studied at, few years ago.... (Ok, more than just a few years!)
In class we tend to concentrate on the manipulation of the images using Paint Shop Pro. Using specialist brushes such as the Clone Brush and Scratch Removal Tool there is no end to the possibilities that can be achieved. Removing unsightly items, making people smile or look younger, the only limitation is your imagination! It is my intention to shortly create a gallery of some of the better examples of work from this class for everyone to see. Although the class is mainly centred on using the computers, we do have the occassional session on the basics of digital photography, photo shoots in class, the use of scanners for altering traditional photographs, and when the weather and daylight permits in the summer term, some class trips to local spots of photographic interest.
Enjoy the photographs below, and feel free to leave a comment in my guestbook - it's much appreciated!
