I’ve always been interested in computer since I was younger. I remember my uncle showing me the BBC Micro that he had bought when it was brand new in the 80’s, and being fascinated by simple games like Snapper and Frogger. I’ve been hooked ever since. My first computer in fact was also a BBC Micro, of which I had for over 8 years. It came with a cassette player to load games, and it wasnt unheard of to wait 10 mins or more for one to load. As technology improved I did replace that with a disk drive (single sided Cumana drive). Then in the late 80's I replaced the BBC with an Atari STe - fantastic machine! A colour palette of 4096 colours, and stereo sound, what more could I have wanted then? The next computer I had was an Amiga 600, not so much of a vast improvement over the Atari, but it was much better in terms of the games available for it, and the sound was much better. I've since then had a variety of home PCs, a 386/33, 486/66, 486 DX100, Pentium 90, Pentium 200MMX, Pentium III 450Mhz, Pentium III 1Ghz and now a Pentium 4 3.2Ghz - quite a few to say the least!
So how did this gallery come about? Well, in work today I was building a server at a local Primary School, and it just got me thinking about computer equipment in general. I was thinking that I actually had the chassis of a server similar to that of the one I was working on, in my attic at home. I then remembered seeing the images of the PBase servers that Slug had uploaded, and then that lead me to do a search on Pbase for servers and computers that people might have uploaded in their own galleries. So having been inspired, here is my attempt – I hope you enjoy them!
