Hi Chris; I found your site when searching for the name of this Caterpillar. I too have an image of it taken in Saint Lucia recently. Thanks for posting yours and for the Id provided in the comments. BTW: Beautiful image too.

This is a Tetrio Sphinx, Pseudosphinx tetrio. The caterpillar is much prettier than the moth it turns into.

Tetrio Sphinx [officially: Pseudosphinx tetrio (Linnaeus)]

Also, because they feed on the leaves of the Frangipani tree, they're often refered to as a "Frangipani Caterpillar."

This is a Frangipani Caterpillar. We saw loads of them in St Lucia.

Fantastic image! I have an image similar from when I was in St. Lucia http://www.pbase.com/ayobami/image/36096212) and was just thinking about adding it to my trekearth site but wanted to find out the name for it. When I did a search, I landed right back here on pbase and found your photo. Do you have any idea what these little guys are called? I've only ever seen them in St. Lucia.
