Tegenaria duellica - common house spider - female and completely harmless.

Sadly many people think spiders are nasty creatures that should be sucked up in the Hoover or crushed underfoot
but they play an important part in the eco-system.
I have to admit to not wanting ones of this size too near me,
I catch them in a glass and release them in the shed where hopefully they will make their home.

I hate them but I never kill a spider I put him outside quickly !!
