Hello Paul,

Really sorry to see your home in this state. I know how it feels as we flooded in 1995, Ormond Estates, Destrehan. We had to rip out flooring, sheetrock, insulation, all new furniture, appliances and cabinets. It took about 4 months to complete. We also had to move out for that time. But as dim as it appears, things will work out.

This is to the guest that posted just below me about moving Louisiana. Cheap shot as he didn't leave his name or area of residence.
Louisiana is built below sea level, Southern California is built on a major fault, much of California is prone to fires, flash floods and mud slides, the central plains is built in tornado alley, Missouri and surrounding areas are built on the New Madrid Fault, Florida is in Hurricane Alley. Maybe you might want to suggest where will all these millions of people will relocate to and are you willing to pay the cost. Get a life and maybe a little compasion wouldn't hurt very much.

I guess you've already cut out that sheetrock and pulled up the floors and cloroxed until the fumes makes your eyes run. People keep telling me "it's only things". That is because it is not their "things." Some things have been in my family for over one hundred years and I'm losing them because some idiot public official decided not to keep the pumps running.

Just awful. Can your house be saved? Our prayers and best wishes are with you. In the next few days I'm going to post a few shots of a relatively minor flood we had earlier this year here in Alberta. Ours was costly and upsetting, but nothing compared to what you are going through. Be strong.

Paul, You guys took the brunt of Katrina. We lucked out on the west side of New Orleans, no flooding, just wind damage. The only pics I've been taking are of storm damage to houses.

AS soon as i saw your photos I searched the web for maps of the ara where your yards are. Things couldn't be worse for you & your house...that is so upsetting. I'm really sorry about your losses.

WOW 2 YEARS AGO HERE IN NEWPORT NEWS VIRGINA WE WENT THORGH HURRICANE ISABEL AND LET ME TELL YA SEEING THE NEWS AND SEEING THE PICTURES WE HAD NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT THEY HAVE SUFERIED IT IS JUST SO BAD AND THIS COUNTRY I KNOW IS PRAYING FOR THEM AND THINKING ABOUT THEM. I KNOW WHAT IT WAS LIKE NOT HAVING POWER FOR 10 DAYS AND THAT IS NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT THEY ARE FACING.
