Do you own a Ram 1500 series truck?

If "yes," then please note that Chrysler Group mailed a "Safety Recall Notice" addressed to "John A. Scarlett" at my address. Odd. Would you like to see the notice?

Dear John and Susan Scarlet, Greetings from Earlham and from Lauren's teacher, Mary Lacey--daughter of your teacher a few years ago now! John, Lauren helped me to your site, which is lovely, and I've enjoyed the chance to see all of you at least as much as all the fishes . . . I hope you're thriving. Dad sends greetings and is scheming to get to meet Lauren before too much more time goes by. Best, Mary Lacey

Well, after seeing so many familiar names of friends and family, I feel I must add my Two Cents. Thank you, Dad, for bringing color to an otherwise dark world. Just seeing your pictures invokes a sense of supreme joy of being your kid. I mean that with all of my heart, and promise to pass on this address to complete strangers who I know would appreciate your work. Who knows maybe one day I'll get to dive again! Oh, and congrats on winning third place with the picture "Kararu Under Sail"!
All my Love, Jessie bear

Dear John,

Really enjoyed meeting you on our flight to Dallas. I spent the next 9 1/2 hours in the Dallas airport waiting to get to West Palm. Hope you fared better in getting to Indianapolis. Showed my husband your website and two of the three photographs we spoke about that are posted there. He was equally impressed. Looking forward to receiving them when you have a chance. Thanks again. Great shots John, I am underwater photographer too from Brazil. I shot with F100 in a NX100 Sea&Sea housing. Recently I purchase a Nikon D100 in a AD100 housing. I would like to see more fish eye 10.5 shots because I intend to purchase this lens too. I found only two shots in your galery. Do you have more pictures with this lens ? When you can pay me a visit in www.pbase.com/mandrade

cheers

Your pictures are truly inspiring, you make me want to call to book a flight! I am limited to taking aquarium & tank pictures now, wondering if you have any advice in that field. To get an idea of what kind of aquatic pics I have been taking I invite you to check out my gallery at http://www.pbase.com/fastuno

After looking at your pictures I honestly feel the need to go diving now!

Thanks for the inspiration!

Glad you enjoyed them. I've had the privilage of diving with some of the world's best pros - that's the way you really learn, as long as you're prepared to be humbled regularly! Also, I went all-digital about 2 years ago (D100) and have found that has increased the "take" on each trip by at least 50%. Strobe placement is the bane of u/w photography, and that you can assess quite well looking at the image you just shoot while underwater. Also, having over 100 high-res images available each dive rather than 36 exposures means only taking one camera instead of the usual 2-3 in the film days. Hopefully these pictures will inspire others to dive and protect these remarkable environments.

Dr. Scarlett:
I was directed to your website by my son-in-law who is a recruiter for Austin College and I think had talked to your daughter. Being a diver, he knew I would be interested. He was right! Your pictures are absolutely wonderful - Cathy Church has nothing on you! For just a few minutes, you took me away from the "grind" in land-locked Dallas and made be feel as though I was right there with you on each dive. Thank you for the experience.
Kind regards,
Lynne and Hal Hinckley, Dallas, TX

Susan, it was a pleasure meeting you with your mother at Four Corners yesterday. Love the pics! You didn't tell me you had family in HI. I wen move heeah from Big Island tree ana haff yeeahs ago, brah,...la dat!

Moved here to finish acupuncture school--just received my acup license one week ago but STILL a waiter! Uuugh. But you won't find me at the restaurant for much longer, so drop me a note and let's go dive a TX river somewhere! Yee-hah! A friend of mine just was certified a couple weeks ago, and we're planning to drift down a San Marcos river. Perhaps you and your husband would like to join us...just think how much more you'll appreciate your Indonesian diving experience after a slimy, beer can-ridden TX river!! ;-) Thanks, Scott

Chip: After being your assistant for 3 years, I thought it would be hard to impress me any further than you already had. However, you have outdone yourself once again and as always I am wonderfully surprised by your talent and brilliance (are you blushing yet?). I miss your slide shows in the conference room that you used to give upon returning from some fabulous, remote place. They were always so much fun and I'm continually amazed at what is alive and well in that great underwater world. I'll look forward to seeing some pictures from the trip you two crazy kids are on now -- out there in some remote part of New Guinea -- on some not so small dive boat. Thank you for everything! Much love, Michelle.

My mother, Carol Alexander = old friend of your Dear folks!!= forwarded your wonderful Xmas newsletter and I enjoyed reading of your family/activities but was sad to think that your cheerful parents, who always treated me so very kindly, were only with us in spirit now. I remember their enthusiasm for Florida when they let me stay at their home when they were running the book store. Well - your DOG caught my eye, also! He's beautiful and I've enjoyed 3 of them over the years = none better! Best Wishes for 2003!

On a rainy/sleety/snowy afternoon, your photos brought much needed visions of bright and beautiful places. To see such wonders must be captivating. Happy New Year. Love you all. Anji and Chad (in oh-so-cold Evansville)

Chip, A fellow diver I met in Bonaire turned me on to PBase. I am preparing a trip to Truk, Yap and Palau and discovered your photos. Thanks for the inspiration. I am glad to see that other non-pros can advance like you apparently have in U/W photography. I am sure you have more photos; would you consider posting your other not-so good photos. I am trying to see lots of the underwater life of Micronesia before I go in AprilMay 2003.

Thanks!!
