There had been reports (including The Age newspaper) of a Powerful Owl being sighted
in Melbourne's Flagstaff Gardens. I did not fancy my chances of catching a glimpse
and sure enough when I visited it was nowhere to be found. We decided to return to
the gardens the same night and there it was in full view sitting on an antenna.
We had good views of her for about ten minutes before she flew off up into a tree
and out of sight. The Powerful Owl is Australia's largest Owl species.
