Underwater Philippines 2008

This was our return visit to Anilao in the Batangas region of the Philippines. We rarely repeat a dive destination but as you can see from the diversity of marine life there is so much to see here. I get many comments asking where we stayed. Our choice of accomodation was Club Ocellaris just outside of Anilao and right on the water. Be sure to visit http://www.pbase.com/arking25/philippines_2008 to see more images above and below the sea. Would we go back?? Another popular question, yes in a heart beat.

Armina Helmut Gurnard Lumpy Chromodoris meet and greet This is special because the left rhinophore is split like an antler.
It is not very common and is perhaps a birth defect.
The rhinophores are the two colorful sensory organs located on the front top of a nudibranch, they act like a nose to detect chemical signals.

mantis shrimp and harlequin shrimp. Just yards away local children were enjoying the beach with no idea that these creatures were so close to their toes.
