2011 Hangzhou


Hangzhou (Chinese: 杭州), formerly transliterated as Hangchow, is the capital and largest city of Zhejiang Province.
Governed as a sub-provincial city, and as of 2010, it had a registered population of 8.7 million people.

Attractions:
1. The Liuhe Pagoda (Six Harmonies Pagoda) of Hangzhou, built in 1165 during the Song Dynasty. Octagonal pagoda.
At the top one can view the Qiantangjian Bridge spanning the Qiantang River.
2. Longjing Tea Plantation. Longjing tea also known as Dragon Well tea, is a variety of roasted green tea from Hangzhou
where it is produced mostly by hand and has been renowned for its high quality, earning the China Famous Tea title.
3. Lingyin Temple (Temple of the Soul's Retreat) is one of the largest and wealthiest Buddhist temples in China.
It has a large number of grottos and religious ancient Buddhist rock carvings, in the caves and limestone cliffs
of Feilai Feng (飞来峰; literally "the peak that flew hither" or Flying Peak).
4. Gardens and park at the West Lake.
5. Impressions West Lake a play directed by Zhang Yimou, staged entirely on a stage 3cm underwater on the West Lake.
Hundreds of actors perform the folklores and myths of Hangzhou in the night, aided by props built into the lake,
colourful lights, water sprays and mist and accompanied by traditional Chinese orchestra music.
