Xanthorrhoea preissii, with the common name Balga, is a widespread species of perennial monocot in Southwest Australia.
These plants are also known as grasstrees.
These remarkable plants have a lifespan of 600 years but are very slow-growing, about 1 m (3 ft.) in 30 years.
