In the heart of South Germany, where the Haller and Hohenloher plains meet each other lies a dreamy town, Kirchberg an der Jagst. Kirchberg an der Jagst is a town in the district of Schwäbisch Hall, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located on the river Jagst, 11 km northwest of Crailsheim. Kirchberg an der Jagst was founded in the 13th century because it had a fort build as a bridge cross the river Jagst. The castle earned the toll on the road from Schwäbisch Hall to Rothenburg. The name of the castle and the town are the same Kirchberg.
In Kirchberg the upper part of the town and the castle form a complete unity. The castle buildings are grouped round 3 courtyards. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful garden. In the castle there is since the 19th century an aged care facility.
These pictures I took in 2003 and 2005. Friends of mine are living here. I would like to visit this town again, but I know I have to wait for a while.
