Flagg Mountain

Flagg Mountain - Coosa County Alabama
The first mountain in the Appalachian chain over 1000 ft.

Dad has been wanting to go to Flagg Mountain for sometime. We attempted to find it on one of our Coosa County trips a while back but there were no signs and we just drove a lot of dirt roads. Even that was fun.

Yesterday we made the trip. Dad was born in Coosa County and remembers going to Flagg Mountain as a boy. Here are some photos.

In 1933 work was started at Flagg Mountain for a new state park called Weogufka State Park. Here is a description:

Here is an old video called "Alabama Highlands" with some info about the proposed Weogufka State Park. (2:46)
