Whooo Are Yooou Looking At?

Another beautiful day.

OK, I want it all. How do I keep some shading in the cow fur without bleaching out the grass?

California Happy Cows...
I think you did fine here. I don't think the black cow is too dark.
Whenever I stop to take cow pictures they all run away! LOL!

It's true you know. California cows are contented cows... LOL

Other than using my 'shoot 100 and pick the best' method, I don't know :) What I will say, however, is the composition is very nice. The Dairy Council needs to talk to this herd, though. They don't look like 'happy California cows'.

I like the contrast forced on the scene by that big pylon!

What you need to do is to get a big stick and herd the cows over to where there is a darker background.

this is where layers in PS helps nicely . . .ixolate the cows and adjust the levels to show detail . . . or if you MUST be a purist, you might have to shoot twice & blend the two pix together . . . or DM would say expose for the detail (or shadows)and then use the "darkroom" to adjust the rest =]

Not being a PS wizard, my suggestion is more of an in the future kind of thing. A polarizing filter on the lens might have helped here.

I think you managed to keep a respectable amount of detail in the blacks. That one sure looks big.

Don't know other than wizarding in PS!

Beautiful scene. And you did a great job. When you find out how to shoot these black steer, let me know. I have never been able to do it. Especially on a bright sunny day. I'd say you did pretty darn good here.

lovely peaceful scene.... you have an exposure headache! Usually an Incident light measurement helps in these cases, not sure about here though lol

Thought maybe you had popped over to visit John! LOL!! Come to think of it, I've never noticed those power towers in his pics...is that an american thing!

LOVE the cows, LOVE the green!

Great pictures. The girls look good and the guy on the bike looks happy.

A nice healthy looking herd. I swear cows like having their photo taken.
