9-14-04 PaD

Whoops, I messed up. Not only was the photo taken on the 13th, but I fell asleep and didn't get it posted until the 15th. So much for my Sept. 14th PaD entry!

This statue is on the lawn of the California Palace of the Legion of Honor, in San Francisco, California.
The Palace was built in the 1920s to bring French art to California and to honor the California servicemen who died in World War I.

Yes, and the French art was provided by Gertrude Stein, who sent the museum the first Matisses ever in USA. She was from Oakland originally, about which she made the famous statement "There is no there there." There is also an original cast of "The Thinker" out front, unless they moved it, to protect it from vandals. Hi Cheryl!

Great photo, Cheryl ... I like the dramatic POV here!

Good angle and the exposure is good given the angle of light to camera. The whole scene reminds me of the line "Breathing out slaughter"

Suggestion -- don't try that angle with a real horse; check out that critter's eyes!

Excellent amgle. Very dramatic, which goes well with the subject.
