Hudson Valley Honor Flight is an organization which tries to bring WWII Veterans to Washington DC to visit the WWII Memorial. They arrange chartered flights from Newburgh, NY. The amount of people who participate is unbeleivable. There is a huge sendoff, starting with a motorcade to Stewart Airport, and continuing with a large ceremony at the terminal. An equally sized reception awaits the veterans in DC, with so many military personal taking the time to come to Reagan Airport to show their gratitude and support. I had the privilege of participating in their April 2014 flight, accompanying my Dad, who served as a paratrooper in the South Pacific. It was truly a remarkable experience.
