Jama Masjid

Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, stands across the road from the Red Fort and at the end of the bustling Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi. Originally called the Masjid-i-Jahan-Numa, or "mosque commanding view of the world", the Jama Masjid stands at the center of the erstwhile capital city of the Mughals, Shahjahanbad. The Jama Masjid (the mosque of congregation) is also known as 'Juma Masjid' or the Friday Mosque, after the Muslim holy day of Friday. Wikipedia tells me - the mosque was the result of the efforts of over 5,000 workers, over a period of six years. The cost incurred on the construction in those times was over one million rupees. It is an unexpected oasis of peace in all the bustle of Old Delhi and especially in the mornings, a fantastic place for photography...
