This is my "Photo of the Week" for week ending 13 January 2011.

It's not often that you can get close enough to this species to get any detail but for some reason this bird, along with another were not disturbed as they fished (one caught a small perch as I watched), and then rested on the Exeter Ship Canal opposite Topsham. The light was good meaning that I was able to get some good sharp images and this one was the best of a fabulous session.
