Maypop
(08.26.05)

When you think of marching to your own drum, this flower has got to be near the top of the list. Even its name is a bit off, Maypop, when it really pops in August. Reminds me of a fireworks display and it grows wild around my parts.

Wow fantastic flower. It really looks like the passionflower Passiflora incarnata. Lucky you to have it growing wild.

I agree, this is a beautifully unique specimen. I've always wanted to photograph one, but I've yet to come across one to have the opportunity. You've captured it here perfectly.
