Paul and his colleagues are working to restore the American chestnut tree by breeding in blight resistance from its cousin Chinese chestnut. One-fourth of the trees in the Appalachian Mountains were chestnuts before a disease entered the country in the early 1900s. The nuts were very important for wildlife, and the rot-resistant wood was used a lot for construction and furniture.
Paul and Benjie are in China - 2008
Paul is providing a photo narrative of his China Trip.
