Memphis Central High School
Class of 1963
45TH Reunion: Weekend of June 20, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gene Johnson
Married, three daughters...ages 32, 30, 28.

We just got the oldest married. #2 is due this fall, and we have no earthly idea when #3 will "tie the knot."

There are no grandchildren yet, and I'm beginning to wonder if there ever will be.

Pretty checkered work career...Bank Lending Officer, Company President, IBM Territory Agent, Retired, Family Trust Investment Manager, Unretired, Casino Administrator, Sales Manager.

Current project is helping Jimmy Mitchell, '64, resurrect The Memphis Blazers. The band was rediscovered, and there is now worldwide interest. CD to be released in late May; early June. These are recordings made as long ago as 40 years.

The website is ready and the CD is available.

Life continues to be fun in spite of trials and tribulations.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.

The Blazers

May 3, 2003:

The CD has been released, and the almost final rendition of our website is now at the address, http://www.thememphisblazers.com. I believe the only thing left to do is to add a turnstile count as well as some 'buy' links throughout the site.

Respective of the CD... CD Baby is handling internet sales of the product, while Shangri-la records on Madison across from Huey's will be selling the product in Memphis.

The 'hoot' of it all is we're having trouble keeping CD Baby supplied with product...they keep selling out. Also, we are getting some very flattering reviews posted up along with active interest from European radio stations. Whoda thunk it??

Also, there is a big interest from two British magazines, and we are supposed to be interviewed by them next week, plus we are getting with Alex Ward, Monday, for an interview for the "Pin 'N' Whistle" show. By the way he is running one of the songs this Sunday right before 7:00PM CDT.

Anyway, Mitchell, Cooper and I are still trying to figure out why all of this excitement. Whatever happens, this has truly been a blast.

Gene

PS - Smith, Grivich and O'Keefe are scrambling around at area pawn shops buying horns in case we perform live.
