After graduating from the then Memphis State with my Master's in Education in '73,
I taught with the Shelby County Schools for three years. My husband graduated from optometry school and we moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico with our two children. I taught with the parochial schools here for two years. After my divorce, I moved to a small town outside of Gallup, New Mexico, called Thoreau. It's named after Henry David Thoreau, but they call it "Threw!"
I stayed there for eight years after remarrying. Small-town life in the desert is stifling, to say the least, so I moved back to Albuquerque in 1987 and have been here ever since. My son, Eric, lives and works in Washington, DC and my oldest daughter, Erin, lives in Chicago with my son-in-law, Brian and their 3 yr. old daughter, Lily, who is my only grandchild-until September, when Erin will be having a boy!
I have a 21 yr. old son, Ryan, who lives and works in Albuquerque and a 19 year old daughter, Jennifer, who works and goes to school in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. I'm currently a Title I reading teacher with the Albuquerque Public schools.
