Stayed in Xiamen for 2 nights and visited a temple, had dinner at a very good seafood restaurant called "Chia Lee" and visited Gulangyu Island. Then its off to Yongding to visit the Hakka circular building where the whole clan will stay in. Highlight was the firing of firecrackers.
From Yong Yuan town we drove by the mountain road to Chao Zhou (6 hours and very bumpy but well worth it as you get to see the real China) Pity pollution is everywhere even in the mountains.
From Chao Zhou its a slow and leisurely 10 hours ride to Fu Zhou, where we visited a temple in the mountain and also the South Shaolin Temple. Then its back to Xiamen for the flight back to singapore, 8days 7 nights. Expenditure average to S$100 per day.
There are 3 things that stands out from my this trip. Pollution is very rampant, smog in the cities, not condusive for photography in the cities and even in the countryside and the atrocious english translation. the third thing is the beauty of seasons which Singapore doesn't have, spring is beautiful with the pretty girls in spring fashions and the peach and cherry blossoms and the bare trees starting to sprout flowers.
