Regarding the comment you made on this shot on my gallery- http://www.pbase.com/image/55565796

It is really easy, and you don't need photoshop. Shutter-priority or meter off something that will give you a slower speed. If you have a DSLR, immediately after the shutter, rotate camera and zoom! OR just zoom to get that Lens baby effect.

Hi cdsouza!
Just wanted to check back and view your latest photos. You have a wonderful ability to extract all that's possible from the image. The lighting, framing, and best angle, it's all there. Great job! Take care.

I enjoyed reading your comments on my images -- and then doubled the morning pleasure by enjoying your images and commenting on a few that really struck me. Your montreal work has piqued my interest to drift north of the border for a walkabout with the camera. Thanks! Jonathan ... aka donutrun

Thanks, CD for visiting some of my photos again. It prompted me to re-visit yours, and with great pleasure. Being an ex-NY'er, I think your did a fanatastic job of shooting the city in a very classic way and solid way. You have an eye that I enjoy - very careful about balance, harmony, composition, etc. - resulting in a very "together" self contained art. Your photos show great care and a keen eye. It's a look, at least to me, that I very much gravitate towards.

Will be stopping by again. The photos I've been taken recently with the 20D are VERY different that what I'm used to taking. I'd had beeen used to taking 1/2 hour to set up the shot with field 4x5. Now I'm finding, to my surprise, that it's the unexpected, never-would-think that I'd nail a decent one times, that offer the best photos. The one of my daughter that you pointed out is a good example - ordinary day, didn't plan to take a camera, unplanned photo - but just picked it up almost as a afterthought and, shot a couple. I too, liked the one you mentioned. Thanks for the comment.

Best regards.

C,

Thanks for your visit to my Prague gallery and your kind words. Here’s a belated welcome to PBase. I hope you like it here.

I think these first galleries are an auspicious start. My favourite is “Abstracts”. You have a good eye for that which shows through in the other work e.g. NY.

Keep up the good work!

regards,

John H

Thanks for the comment on my pic. I've been asked to do some work for a local exhibit and I did this one for my own pleasure. There is a local poet that wants me to put his words to pictures... as I said I just did this one for my pleasure. I've been very hesitant to post any of this work untill the exhibit has shown.

BTW you have a great eye IMHO for shots. Realy liked the reflections of the trees.

thanks

I have only been a PBase subscriber for a couple of weeks and outside of my brother you are my first post.

Thank you for your kind words but it is talented individuals like you that got me into photography two years ago.

Great images make for great friends. They just don't know it. We sit out here and admire in silence but now I have communicated a sincere thank you for your work and your kind comments.

Kindest regards
Barry Murphy

In answer to your question regarding http://www.pbase.com/carrhighlander/image/36005798
I don't know what it's called but basically its two ropes with something burning at the end then spun around My neice Kerrie http://www.pbase.com/carrhighlander/image/28951387 is in the middle of it all, but with the 2 sec exposure you can't see her.

Hi C,
Thanks for leaving a message in my guestbook. We have common roots! Your D'souza and my Noronha are both of Portuguese origin.
I like you flora shots. I struggle to get good macro shots with my A80..It refuses to focus even if the lens is 50mm away! Does that happen to you? I always have to crop my photos later.
Take care and happy shooting..!
