For the past several years, the University of Southern California
Band and Cheerleaders has participated in the Fourth of July Parade
at Santa Catalina Island. This is a small island approximately 30 miles
off the Southern CA, Coast, near Los Angeles. It is akin to being Irish on
Saint Patrick's Day. For a few days, the entire town is comprised of USC boosters.
I really enjoyed all of the youth and enthusiasm of the Band members and the
Cheerleaders. It is my intention to present them with affection and enthusiasm. I really think
they were all very sweet. I enjoyed their performance, in the summer heat, immensely. They just make me happy.
