Strange rock 1.jpg

This strange rock actually came out of the stream in King Cave, Warren County Tennessee. If you know how it was formed, please write me. Some kind of tool?

Hey, Tim. Did anyone ever email you about what this might be?Just curious. I'm not sure of the scale, but it almost looks like a button! (Of course, it's not, but it does look like part of one ;-) Maybe a fire-starting tool? They would set the tip of a wooden stick in the center and fill the edges with tinder, then spin it very quickly to set off sparks that would set fire to the tinder. I've never seen one of those, but this fits the description. What kind of rock is it? Sandstone?
