Hockey

All images take at the Aberdeen Hockey Association Hockey Arena in Aberdeen, SD. They were all taken between 2003 and 2005. Thank you to the Aberdeen Hockey Association for allowing me access to the Arena to take these images.
All images were shot wirh the Canon EOS Digital Rebel & the Canon EOS 20D. Lens used were: Tamron 28-300mm f3.5-5.6, Promaster 70-300mm, and the Canon 18-55mm f3.5-5.6

All shots are hand held. I do have mono pods, and tri pods, but I find that they hamper me a bit. I have now graduated to some really fast galss, 400mm f2.8, 300mm, f2.8, 70-200 f2.8, 85mm f1.8, so it is not such an issue anymore. When shooting the slower lenses, I found that shooting the players coming towards me, rather than across then lens worked better, and also shooting close, through the glass with a zoom wide open.

Do you hand hold these shots? I am just starting out photographing hockey and I am having trouble with slow lenses that are too short!

Presently I'm shooting with a Tamron 28mm - 300mm f3.5, and a Prostar 70-300 f3.5. My next step is to get a few faster lenses.
