Wendelstein Mountain, the center peak, is the highest point in the area surrounding Rosenheim, Germany. This is the Landkreis, or county, where I live. A weather station, a small chapel (1890) and a gast haus are perched atop the Wendelstein. Wendelstein is accessible by foot, cog train or seilbahn (cable car). Notable people who have hiked the Wendelstein include King Maximillan of Bavaria and Pope Pius XII. |
Wilparting Chapel located in Irschenberg, Germany. This pretty church sits atop a hill with the Bavarian Alps as its backdrop. Interred inside this church are the remains of two saints, Marinus and Anian. |
Another view of Wilparting Chapel, Irschenberg. The Alps behind the church still have some lingering snow. Not a rarity in the month of May. |
Sculpture, depicting the Virgin Mary holding an infant Jesus, located in the courtyard of Weihenlinden Church, Weihenlinden, Germany. This striking sculpture is worn and weathered, indications of its age. The Virgin Mary is the patron saint of Weihenlinden. |

This is a long distance shot of St. Peter's Kirche, taken from St. Magarethen. St. Peter's, circa 1100, and is perched atop a mountain. St. Peter's is only reached by a foot path. |
A splendid example of a Bavarian farm house. This one appears to be quite old, judging from its stone work. Something unique to Bavarian architecture, notice the livestock barn attaches directly to the rear portion of the house. |
Trail sign, indicates the direction to the Tatzelwurm Wasserfall. |
This is a shot of the uppermost fall at Tatzelwarm Wasserfall. |
Another shot of the upper portion of Tatzelwurm Wasserfall. |
Lower fall at Tatzelwurm Wasserfall. |
Lower falls of Tatzelwurm Wasserfall. If you look closely, you can make out the arched, stone bridge where the hiking trail crosses over the gorge. Standing of this bridge, I took the pictures of the upper falls and the shots looking down the gorge that follow. |
Another shot of the lower falls at Tatzelwurm Wasserfall. The pool at the bottom was such a deep blue-green color! |
Another shot looking down the gorge at Tatzelwurm Wasserfall. |
