Almabtrieb is the day when cows & sheep are brought down from their mountain pastures for the winter. The cows are decorated with colorful headdresses made from flowers & streamers. Farmers go up to the pastures the day before & prepare the headdresses. The next day, the cows are herded down & paraded through the middle of the village on their way to their winter homes.
