Perak

Perak Darul Ridzuan is one of the 13 states of Malaysia. It is the third largest state in Peninsular Malaysia. Perak means silver in the Malay language. The name comes most probably from the silvery colour of tin. In the 1890's, Perak, with the richest alluvial deposits of tin in the world was one of the jewels in the crown of the British Empire. The Arab honorific of the State is Darul Ridzuan, the Land of Grace. Perak's population is approximately 2 million. Once Malaysia's most populous state, the decline in the tin mining industry caused an economic slowdown from which it has yet to recover, leading to a massive drain in manpower to higher-growth states such as Penang, Selangor and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. The ethnic composition of the population was estimated in 1995 to be: Malay (962,200 or 45%), Chinese (732,500 or 41%), Indian (281,700 or 14%), Other (50,000).
You will see in those pictures, Ubudiah mosque, Sultan Abdul Jalil Bridge at Kuala Kangsar, crossing the Perak River , Perak Tong temple and Majestic hotel in Ipoh.
Masjid Ubudiah is Perak's royal mosque, and is located in the royal town of Kuala Kangsar, Malaysia. Construction began in 1910 but it was abandoned during World War I. It was also delayed when the then crown prince's elephant walked over and cracked the imported Italian marble floor. The mosque was finally completed in 1919.
The Perak Tong was built in 1926 by Buddhists priests from China. The temple houses over 40 Buddha statues with the centrepiece being a 12.8-metre high sitting Buddha. Beyond the main altar, there is a passage which leads into the cave's interior. One will definitely be fascinated with the mystical mural paintings found on the cave's walls. After a steep climb of 385 steps, the cave opens again to reveal a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside.
