I was lucky to witness this little one who had obviously just fledged hopping around the edge of our wood.
We have had a little owl nest in our wood for years and occasionally I catch a glimpse of the chicks, but I almost trod on him as I was looking to photograph insects!
As I walked away he followed me almost back to my house, no fear at all, just curious to see what I was, (understandable lol)!
I couldn't have him near the house as Wolfie and Caspar would have made a meal of him, but was so friendly I was able to lead him back into the wood near his nest, or I hope it was his nest.
Im sure Mum was keeping a careful eye on him though, he was certainly big and cheeky enough to start to feed himself.
The parents only ever have 1 chick every year so it was extra special to find him. Its one of the few birds of prey that are around during the day.
Heres another pik of the little fella!
Heres a pik of Mum back in 2007 the last time I was able to get a pik of them.
