Saba, is a small island in the Caribbean, about a 3-hour boat ride from St. Maarten. The island has no beaches. It has a curvey, steep road that climbs from the small harbor to the towns that sit among the clouds. The top of the island is covered in lush rain forest and there are some wonderful trails. Our tour guide dropped us off on one of the trails were we were able to hike down to the village of Windwardside. The photo of "The Ladder" shows the original rocky beach where supplies where off-loaded to the island. From there it was a steep climb up the stairs to the Customs House. Beyond their, the cargo could be loaded on mules or donkeys for the rest of the climb.
