We made a detour to Pamukkale and Hieropolis when we took the inland route from Kas to Adana. It was well worth a visit, but a large area to cover in a short time and in 107 degree heat in the sun! Thank goodness it was dry heat and I used lots of sunscreen. Pamukkale is beginning to go dry and the Turks are having difficuly keeping the travertines filled with water and white. They have to funnel the water to different sections. Tourists are no longer allowed to walk on the travertines, but that didn't stop a number of them from trying. There isn't enough park help to prevent it entirely. We saw several tourists take a dip in the natural pools, or dart out for photographs.

Travertines
This section had some water flowing. The pools reflect the color of the sky.
Travertines
These are artificial travertines the tourists can bath in while overlooking the natural site.
