Cyprus: 2008

Bob and I had a 3 day weekend to kill and couldn't resist going back to Cyprus to dive since it's almost too hot to do anything land-based in Turkey. We stayed at Hotel Sempati again and were welcomed back by the dive shop owners, Drew and Caroline. We found out we are kind of famous on Cyprus as the two photographers. Photos we took are on their web site now (with our permission) and on the bulletin board in their lobby. I'm in several of the photos. We managed to get five dives in, and got to play tourist one afternoon and visit the harbor and castle in the main town of Girne or Kirenia. We weren't really planning on visiting the castle, but this is a real castle, not one of the rough fortresses you see in Turkey. The wreck of the oldest recovered shipwreck was a lure for Bob. After working up a thirst touring the castle, we sat at a table by the sea and enjoyed the evening breeze with a cool beer. Then we treated ourselves to a nice dinner at a rooftop restaurant with a great view of the harbor and castle.
