This Great Hornbill came flying in to this dead tree and as always when your hear the loud swooshing sound of this great bird, it sends that chilling sensation down your spine. Hornbill!
I saw him landing from the other side of the Pa Gluai Mai campsite and I made a quick move into a position where to get some shots. Using manual exposure settings I had to guess and quickly adjust to the light conditions. I was simply to excited to think straight but it turned out OK with details in both the black and white areas. The sky is a little too bright but I'm not complaining. I could have used Av mode but it usually gives varying result for a demanding shot like this and I believe I did the correct split second decision to stick with Manual settings.
After being attacked by a Crow the Great Bird sat there for while and then cleaned his bill and took off. The whole thing was over in a minute.
Truly a privilege to photograph the King Of The Forest in beautiful afternoon light.
