St. Lorenzo Ruiz (1600 - September 27, 1637) is the first Filipino saint http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=231 .

Beatified by Pope John Paul II in Manila on February 18, 1981. Elevated to full honors of the
altar by canonization on October 18, 1987 in Rome. Feast day is on September 28.
