Inig flores de mayo gyod anaa dayon mag recruit kon asa kang kadalanan mo had ug buwak sa simbahan. Sa alegre kaayo ang practice kada udto,-unya mangayo dayon mo kon asa tong may buwak nga calachuchi para i-had unya sa altar. Isig panindotay pero way palabwanay kay para man ni sa birhen. Unya inig procession nindot tan-awon ang mga reyna elena representing each street and the bright lights nga nagsuga' sa ilang mga kaanyang. Apan lahi' na ron sa kausaban sa panahon ug daghang salamat (hehe).

Flores de mayo is the hightlight of offering flowers to the virgin and also sa kadalanan inig procession na. Mean the reyna elenas nga i-parada that way back on my time wa pa man toy kuwartahay. Sad but true but time changed a lot.

It brings back memories during my childhood... I was once the Reyna Elena of Nellas Street. It was quite an experience, & up to now still treasured my pictures & memories...& proud to show off... hehhehe... Flores de Mayo is always a great summer event both spiritual - Honoring Mama Mary & a Social Event, I will never forget the experience..More power to the organizer & with this devotion to Mama Mary - May She will continue to intercede for us...

flores de mayo procession was always the highlight of my summer vacation, as a child. alegre pud tong mga bayot nga mag kompetensya sa ilang mga alaga mura'g si mother lily, hehe!

'tis good that the Flores de Mayo tradition has been preserved. It's also during this time of the year, esp. during the grand procession on the last day of May, that the town's beautiful ladies are shown in public. Ug looy kaayo ang mga calachuchi trees during this time of the year kay maoy initan para magamit sa daily "halads" of different areas in town. I surely miss this one enjoyable experience in my younger years.

I was once The Queen of Angels and also the Santa Catalina one Flores de Mayo way back in the mid 50's and these photos brings back fond memories. I wish my only daughter had experienced what I went through as a child growing up in Carcar. Looking back I am amazed at how active and involved everyone was and still is! ONLY IN CARCAR indeed!
