Sea Turtle, Inc

This is a photo page dedicated to Sea Turtle, Inc. This is a non-profit sea turtle hospital on South Padre Island, Texas. I work for this organization and have created a photo section to keep the public up to date on the most recent events. Please enjoy and leave comments below.

1/26/10 - New Atlantic green arrived today. It's name is "Louie" and it is covered in barnacles and thick algae. Look for photos of the new one under "Current Residents".

1/21/10 - All but 5 of the Atlantic greens from the recent cold stun have been returned to the wild.

1/19/10 - We have had a total of 125 Atlantic greens strand due to cold shock. Of those 46 were dead. We have released more than 60 back to the wild. 15 are still in the care of Sea Turtle, Inc.

1/09/10 - Today 25 Atlantic green sea turtles have arrived due to a cold shock. They are in a near hypothermic state and will need to be warmed back up slowly. A new folder "Cold Stun 2010" has been created below.

I love sea turtles i am doing a progect on ila and i thing i will get an A because i can teach the class about sea turtles and one day i want to be just like ila helping and saving sea turtles I LOVE SEA TURTLES

OMG! i am just a kid an only 9 but i got to say those are the cutest turtles ever! i love sea turtles i print your pictures and make books for my family. Also yes they are that good of pictures amazing photographs indeed

I recently had the privilege of cleaning a couple of sea turtles and their tanks. I can't tell you how fun and enjoyable it was to pitch in and help a very good cause. Let me encourage you all, who are interested in learning more about these wonderful animals, to come out and see what the Sea Turtle project on South Padre Island is all about. It's a good thing and the people who work there are the greatest, not to mention how fun it is to check out the sea turtles and learn more about these amazing animals who call the ocean home.

So glad our family and my 8th grade class has adopted "Fred". He is so awesome. I am dedicating a "corner" in my room to SPI and Fred will be the star. We look forward to hearing from him each month. The Center is FANTASTIC....please keep up the great work!!!!

My family loved seeing all the turtles. Maggie did a wonderful job teaching us all so many things we never knew. What a wonderful experience!

I loved this place as a kid and it was such a joy to see the love in my childrens eyes when they went this past week!! This establishment is amazing and the staff is wonderful. Keep up the excellent jobs! you all have inspired my youngest and now all he talks about is turtles and how he plans to work with you all when he gets older! Thanks!

Hey!!! I can not tell tou how much I luv sea turtles! I was in South Padre in the Sea Turtle Inc. to see Maggie put Allison's new flipper on. It was sooooo cool!!!

when i went with my class from F.D.Roosevelt I like the way they told us how they helped them and how they treat them.After the little scit that they had put on I got to feed Jerry and brush him it was cool I leaned that he was very ageresive.When I went to Merry Chirstmas`s tank a boy was sceaming and she had got scared and slash water with her flipper.There was a boy in my group and Merry Chirstmas went to him his name was Jamaal I also got to feed her.Thank You for letting us go.YOU PEOPLE ROCK!!!!!!!

Heres hoping the turtles start nesting on South Padre. I'm sure they will. What will specs have to do or Dave for that matter???? Miss all of you and the turtles. Tell them Penny said HI.Keep up the good work.

Yesterday, March 31,2009 I watched as a 200lb plussea turtle emerged from the ocean waters onto the Beach in north Mazatlan. She produced 91 eggs at a depth of approx. 2 feet. When finished two "turtlepolice" who were called to monitor her progress lifted her from the nest and dug up the eggs.They then took them away where they would be incubated for approx.45 days and then released back into the sea at the site from which they had been laid. Talk about being at the right place at the right time!

Oh I luv sea turtles. I am doing a report on a endangered animal, I am so sad to hear that many sea turtles are endangered. Even the Kemp's Ridley Seaturtle!

We brought our family from IL this last week to South Padre. Our four children loved meeting Jerry and getting to feed him. I have been a turtle lover all my life and it is a joy to see the quality work you all are involved in. If I had the time i might love to intern!! I live in the midwest and have to be content rescuing turtles off the highway. We count how many each summer we rescue.

We are traveling to South Padre Island over Christmas. We would love to visit the turtles while we are there. Thanks for the great info on this site. Our kids can study the turtles before we come down.

My friend Cathy & I visited your wonderful facility on Sept. 04th 2008 and we were very impressed and had a wonderful time there. You are doing wonderful work helping to save a magnificent creature from extinction. We appreciate all that you do there. It was one of the highlights of our Padre Island vacation.

I really enjoyed feeding Jerry, he was such a good boy and came over to the window for me so his picture could be taken with me showing him the lettuce. Hope Marley is doing well too, he didn't want to pose for me so I could get his picture with his head out of the water!!! All of their pictures came out great. Where can I get a pen with the turtles all over it, I lost mine.
