Temperature differential Stirling engine

In the beginning of this gallery, I mentioned 'temperature differential' engines. Here is one. The difference in temperature between the top plate and the bottom plate cause air expansion and/or contraction, and the engine will run. Sit it on some ice cubes and it will run, sit it on a bowl of hot water and it will run .... but, in the opposite direction! How does it work? Very well!
