Many years have past since I took pictures of my native city. The skyline is drastically changed, and I didn't recognize half the buildings downtown. I wanted to capture the essence and vitality of the city. Chicago has been rated the 8th most beautiful skyline in the world. These shots were taken during the 2009 July 4th holiday when the downtown area hosted over a million people. Fireworks on the 3rd and the 4th, along with the Taste of Chicago Festival in Grant Park and the opening of "The Ledge" atop Sears Tower attracted more than a million residents and tourists alike to the lakefront.
