"The last photo opportunity before scrapping". This is how I put my Digital Rebel to use a lot - taking photos of my HO scale model railroad. Railfans often stage night time photo opportunities to shoot real railroad engines. They are often lighted with either flashbulbs or electronic flashes, "painting" the light with multiple flashes during a time exposure. This is what I wanted to simulate when photographing my model diesel engine, which is 7 inches long. The model is highly modified, given the appearance of one that is being scrapped.

Lighting for the photo was by using three mini flashlights with bright white LEDs. The resulting exposure was 20 seconds. You can see the photo set up in this photo:
