Czechoslovakia and Slovakia during 1990

This set of photos was taken during the spring and summer of 1990. The 'Velvet Revolution' had taken place just a few short months prior to my arrival. I was a Canadian teacher hired by the new government. My duty was to teach English as a second language. The location was the city of Kosice in the eastern most reaches of the country. Your comments are welcome. Canon F1s and Kodachrome 64 were used throughout.

Many thanks for the photos. Confirming what Ian said above. In 1990 Czechoslovakia was a federal republic, within which the Czechs had one state and the Slovaks the other. The Velvet Revolution led to an amicable "Velvet Divorce" in 1993, which saw the formation of two independent states: Czech Republic and Slovakia.

In 1990 it was still "Czechoslovakia" and "Slovakia" according to the people of those two areas.

I will pass this page onto my wife, she is of Czechoslovakian origins and very interested in this period. To be a bit picky, it is either Czechoslovakia or the Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
