Hi all, I wanted to follow-up on my comment from half a year ago. I still love this lens and use it a lot outside as well. I just come back from an incredible adventurous vacation in the Atacama desert of Chile, and all I can say is it got me some great captures again! There it even proved it's qualities as a compact wildlife lens in combination with a Kenko 2x TC.Check for yourself here: http://www.pbase.com/gbleek/chile (there's a best-off album on the bottom, in case you don't have much time) Many pictures are with my standard lens (17-70mm), but most of the wildlife close-ups are taken with the 50-150, sometimes in combination with the teleconverter. Just check the focal length if you want to be sure if it was taken with the 50-150! (anything over 70 is certainly from the 50-150; I'll try to add the exact lens asap to the EXIF) Cheers, Greg.

This is the only one lens that weight below 1KG with full range F2.8. Boken is good and very cheap. The best C/P lens.

I have just purchased this lens and the 1.4x converter. I am amazed and the weight savings. I had previously owned the Nikon 80-200 AF-ED 2.8D (two-touch) and this is a lot more user friendly, however I doubt it could compare to the nikon's sharpness. that said its an awesome piece of kit. The omission of a tripod collar is a major drawback considering if used with sigma's 2x converter. Images can be seen here:http://www.pbase.com/primus7/sigma_50150

Oops, forgot to say in my message below: the first 18 pictures in that gallery (http://www.pbase.com/gbleek/photoshoot ) are taken with my trusty Sigma 17-70, so scroll down a bit to see the ones taken with the 50-150. From picture 19 on all of them are taken with the 50-150! (and if you're still not sure: the EXIF includes the lens used) Thanks, Greg.

I took my brother's wedding as the perfect excuse to buy this lens, and I can tell you that I'm really glad that my brother finally decided to marry! :-) This is really a very good lens, which is nice to use with very accurate and fast focussing, which also is full time manual. The colours and contrast are terrific and the sharpness very much ok wide-open to "tack sharp" once stopped down just a bit. I purchased this lens before a trip to Costa Rica last month. My main criteria was something smaller than the Nikon 70-200 range. Overall I'm very impressed. Top quality, focuses quickly and accurately. I would recommend this lens to anyone that wants an impressive lens at a decent price. Superb lens, also much smaller and lighter than the 70-200mm. Its the one I keep on my D200 for walking around. Quality is top drawer. Dont hesitate, get one.

I'm considering getting this Lens instead of the Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX as it is smaller & lighter. Images look sharp. What does the forum think?
