I took this lense to Arizona in Setember 2009 and it was impressive!

A wonderful, everyday lens... -- and, as Graham says, much lighter than the camera bag it often replaces for me! Very sharp throughout most of the range; although it can fringe very slightly (red and green) in bright light (although I've found working with raw files easily eliminates this...).
For the money, can't be beaten...!

In all of the reviews I have read, the Sigma edges out the Tamron, in pretty much every aspect.

I intend to buy a Pentax camera K100D and Tamron AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Xr Di-II LD IF or Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC. Does anyone know which one is better in terms of optical quality and build quality? I have heard that the mount of Tamron is made by plastic so can it be damaged easily? About Sigma, the build quality is not really good, is it? The cover might be damaged after long time use and then it looks ugly. Thank you

It's sharp ansd light. Ideal for traveling and walk-around lens. Focusing is also pretty fast.

This is a good event lens..or if you dont want to be changing your lens all of the time.

Images are pretty sharp wide open to about f/16 throughout the zoom range. Great general, everyday lens for the price.

The best affordable hyperzoom around by far. In the Canon world you've have to spend a LOT more money (3-4X more) for a better lens (spelled with an "L").

My only gripe was the slow non-USM/HSM focusing.

this is an excellent lens considering the price and zoom range, it is light and compact. I bought this lens for my wife and i am considering getting on for myself when i take my camera to work with me rather than lugging my camera bag around all day.

I've restructured my galleries so the URL below doesn't work, but go here for more shots with this quite good allround lens:

Really really not so bad :-) Anyway it is above my expectation for more than 10x zoom lens. My first gallery with this lens @http://www.pbase.com/ajuwono/oldtownfestival

Fredrik,

Thank you for posting this image. You are the very first person here @ PBase to post an image coming out from the Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC lens. Please keep them coming. I'm very interested to see the results coming out from this lens. This very fist picture is very impressive to me. If you can post a short review, people who are waiting for this will be very pleased. Thanks.

Nat
